Description

Auricular Acupuncture (NADA protocol) uses 5 needle points on the ear cartilage, targeting areas for physical detox and relaxation response. Utilizing ear acupuncture can assist with stress reduction, pain and stress management, digestion, mind/body balance.

You will receive acupuncture for 15 minutes though plan for about 30 minutes to complete the process. Booking a session is preferred though walk in appointments will be available on a first come basis.

I am an Acupuncture Detoxification Specialist trained and certified through the protocol of the National Acupuncture Detoxification Association (NADA). This focus on acupuncture of the ear was initially designed to manage issues around substance addiction, and included supporting detox methods, managing cravings, and offering a peaceful connection to self.

The positive byproduct of this technique is the deep relaxation it can impart. The needle points targeted elicit relaxation and stress reduction. Additionally, this change in the body's response, can have an impact on how one experiences pain. The targeted areas are the sympathetic nervous system, the lung, liver and kidney.

During an acupuncture session, small, sterile, single use needles will be placed on up to 5 points on the ear cartilage.  You will sit in quiet meditation with the needles for 15 minutes. You will be seated during the session either in a standard chair or a Zero Gravity chair for reclining and relaxation.

As an alternative to the needles, some may choose to receive metal beads or seeds on the points as an acupressure process. The beads/seeds are attached to a small piece of adhesive, that get placed on the ear in place of the needles. These remain in the ears until removed or they fall off (about a week). Though the effect may not be as powerful as the needles, one can press with finger and thumb, on the points throughout the day, when needing a jolt of relaxation, or a reminder to breathe or relax.

While the following may not preclude participation in Auricular Acupuncture, the conditions listed need to be discussed before proceeding with acupuncture treatment and beads/seeds may be advised:

•     Diabetes

•     Pregnancy

•     Pacemaker

•     Hemophilia or other disorder

•     History of fainting or seizure

You will be required to complete a waiver form and minors will need parental consent.
